Make your own body scrub – smoother, more luminous skin.
- A recipe and blog post by Sarah Diment
There is nothing quite like making a homemade body scrub; what a feeling it brings when you're
crafting your own beauty products. Naked ingredients from our Mother Earth, packed with minerals and beautiful aromas. Love and healing in a jar from nature to your skin.
Body scrubs that contain exfoliating ingredients, such as sugar or salt, are perfect for clearing away our dead skin cells, helping to soften and brighten our skin. Dead skin cells can build up, clog our pores and lead to skin irritations like acne. The benefits of a body scrub made with salt are not only that it exfoliates your skin - resulting in a healthier, softer, and smoother look. It also supports the body's natural detoxification process by stimulating the lymphatic system, encouraging the body to release any stagnant toxins within. So, give your entire body the love and nourishment it deserves.
Personally, I wouldn’t consider using a salt scrub to exfoliate your face due to the sensitive nature of our facial skin. Salt contact with the skin tends to be more abrasive, which may leave some irritation to the surface of your skin, unless, of course, if you are looking for a heavier approach, salt would work magic. If you have sensitive skin like me, I would consider trying a sugar scrub (I use coconut sugar) for your face as the sugar granules are very fine and have a gentler approach to the skin (replace the salt with sugar in the recipe below).
Lavender Love Body Scrub – lather in lavender love and relax into sublime peace.
Lavender soothes and calms the skin, reduces redness, balances oil production, heals blemishes, and stimulates circulation for improved skin tone.
Recipe:
¾ cup Epsom salt
¼ cup Himalayan salt
¼ cup oil (Almond, Jojoba, avocado, olive, and more – I use almond)
1 Tablespoon dried lavender flowers (optional)
10 drops of Lavender essential oil
Infuse with loving intentions
1. Combine all of nature’s ingredients into a bowl, mix together.
2. Store in a glass jar.
3. Immerse yourself in a steaming hot shower, allow your pores to open, and begin to scrub all
over your body in whatever way feels right for you. Finish by moisturising and massaging
your skin with nourishing body oil or cream.
TIP: I store my body scrub out of the shower, due to the water and temperature changes.
